IDC Wholesale Inc., which operates as IDC Communications Group, was incorporated in 1991. The name IDC originated from the location of the first offices of the company, which were set up near Ile des Chenes, just south of Winnipeg. David Penner, MaryAnn Penner, Ingrid Plett and Lorne Plett, who remain the principles of the company, started IDC in the early days of cellular communication.  IDC has experienced significant growth as the wireless communications industry has expanded.
